Hey, Everybody!
Sorry for the lack of updates. This weekend I went home to surprise my little sister for her 12th bday. It was amazing to see the look on her face when she saw me! Then my sister, mother, and cousin came to NYC this weekend and stayed with me. So I’ve been verrry busy. While my family was in NYC we went to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum which was quite an experience. It was here that I met Lady Gaga.
See? Sure she’s wax but it still counts. Oh, and if you don’t know I am not the biggest fan of hers.
But I also met Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.
And then Barbara Walters interviewed me for her “most Fascinating People” special
So all and all it was a really successful adventure. Don’t you agree?
New looks will probably get posted this week but if not I will still have plenty to fill you all in on. :)

Hey, Everybody!
I’m starting to think I’m finding my favorite style. I’ll call it urban geek. Hip-Hop inspired clothes with hints of geek chic here and there. It really represents me as a person, and I think that someone’s personal style should really do just that.
Do we like? Check my lookbook post for info on where I got each piece!
Also, I booked a gig on the 22nd at the Recoup Lounge in NYC! I can’t wait to play there, and I’ll definitely have video to share with you all from the gig! That does mean, however, that my already busy next week just got busier because I have to rehearse, so I’m not sure how much I’m going to be posting next week, though I will try to post as much as possible.

Soup = Soul
Hey, Everybody!
Been busy lately but I promise a new look on my lookbook tomorrow. I just have been going cray with trying to figure out school and music stuff. Next week is going to be a monster of a week with my family coming to visit, orientation stuff at school, a meeting with Sony execs (pray for a record deal), and my upcoming gig. What I have been able to figure out today, however, is a solid math proof. It is as follows:
soup and saltines = warm soul.
and here is how I came to this conclusion…
- soup and saltines = warm belly
- warm belly = warm body
- warm body = warm soul
Therefore, soup and saltines = warm soul. Agree? I don’t care, it’s true.
I’m beginning my reading of a new old book that I acquired at a book fair years ago.
Anyone who has read “The Prophet” will appreciate how excited I am to begin reading this and anyone who hasn’t should because it is phenomenal. I read it cover to cover in one sitting because it just takes you away. This book, “The Garden of the Prophet” is a companion piece to “The Prophet” so I’m very eager to dive into it. I have a feeling it will be over in a sitting as well. His writing is so poetic and filled with true meaning, I just find myself at such a calm. Okay, I’m going to stop nerding out about books, but “The Prophet” is certainly worth a read.
And while I’m on the topic, there is no way reading these books on a Kindle, Nook, or any other book killing device, will yield the same pleasure as holding the actual book in your hands. There is something spiritual about these texts that almost requires the reader actually be holding the book while reading it. At least I think so.
If you’ve made it through this rant I applaud you and beg you to not judge me too harshly for my opinions on preserving actual books.

Hey, Everybody!
Last night my friends and I took an impromptu trip to a karaoke bar near my friend’s apartment…of course after having a few drinks. I have to say that I felt like I was a part of the cast of FAME. Not only did my friends and I take over the bar, we also were a group of really talented performers. We covered everything from Aretha Franklin to Eminem (covered by yours truly). Nobody there was ready. It was officially the best night I’ve had so far in NYC and one of the top 3 of my life. Here is a video of one of my best friends singing Aretha Franklin. How fucking fantastic is she?!
